Garden design and designers
I am an experienced landscape contractor, not a garden designer. That said, I do have an eye for what will work, is feasible and buildable in a garden space, and my input often helps to formulate a full design.
I am fortunate to be entrusted to build gardens for some of Scotland’s leading garden designers who are often the most discerning of clients in that they have a vision on paper of how they want the garden to look, know how the garden should be built and naturally want to hand over to their client a garden built and planted to the highest standards. I consider it one of my best achievements that my professional competence, skill, attention to detail, trustworthiness and professionalism is recognised and that garden designers repeatedly ask me to build gardens for their clients.
Having your garden professionally designed will allow you to make the very best use of your outdoor space and can completely transform your property – as well as helping you to ‘get it right first time’ especially on large, sloping or complex sites.
A garden designer will provide some or all of the following services: consultation visit (expect to pay a fee for this), full site survey (by a professional survey company, if needed), initial concept plan/s leading to a detailed layout plan, contractor construction plan plus bill of quantities (to enable me to cost the project more accurately) and, if desired, a detailed planting plan. The services of a garden designer will probably cost in the region of 10% of the garden build eg. £2,000 for a £20,000 project.
If you think you may need the services of a garden designer, I can often recommend one for you, or you can search online for Garden Designers.
