Project Background

The clients' garden was made up of two small sloping plots located side by side in front of their renovated cottage. The garden enjoyed striking views of the Fife countryside but lacked privacy on three sides. They wanted to make the space into one garden area, with a sheltered seating area where they could relax and enjoy the views. The garden needed to be wildlife friendly and although the clients were happy to do some gardening they wanted the planting to look after itself for the summer months.

Approach Taken

Belinda designed a simply terraced garden with a central seating area surrounded by planting to attract birds and insects. The sheltered niche patio area was constructed with reclaimed walling stone and new chipped slate paths were laid to connect with  the existing path in one of the gardens.  Willdflower meadow turf was laid in the upper part of the garden, with mixed planting of perennials and ormanemental grasses in the lower areas to provide screening for the seating area during the summer months.
